The three original Star Wars films as novels, complete with cut scenes, early-script surprises and a closer look inside Luke and Vader's heads.
Our take
The original trilogy on the page, cut scenes included
All three original film novelizations in one volume, and the fun is in the differences. The first book, ghostwritten by Alan Dean Foster from an early script, restores Luke's Tatooine friends and reads like an alternate take on the movie. Empire adds more of Luke's training and Lando, and Jedi goes deeper into Luke's temptation and Vader's last choice, which readers find moving. The prose can be clunky and the films are still better, but we think it's a great curiosity buy for fans who know every line. Three books for this price is hard to argue with.
